BAG-INTEL
The BAG-INTEL project aims to enhance customs controls of incoming travellers’ baggage at inland border airports. Currently, customs inspections rely primarily on officers’ experience and their assessment of travellers' behaviour and luggage appearance. BAG-INTEL...

Critical Infrastructure Preparedness and Resilience Research Network (CIPRNET)
https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/312450
The CIPRNet project established a Network of Excellence in Critical Infra-structure Protection R&D for its stakeholders. The main objective was the enhancement of the preparedness of the CIs, and provide knowledge and technology to other stakeholders for improving the understanding and mitigation of the consequences of CI disruptions
PREparing for the Domino effect In Crisis siTuations (PREDICT)
https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/607697
PREDICT assessed cascading effects in multi-sectorial crisis situations relative to CI. The solution is composed of: methodologies, models and software tools. The target is to better understand cascading effects phenomenology, enhance the preparedness and improves the response capability in case of severe disruptions.
FireLogue
Cross-sector dialogue for Wildfire Risk Management
https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101036534
https://firelogue.eu/
The multitude of stakeholders – ranging from forestry and agriculture to infrastructure operators, insurance, civil society, civil protection authorities and first responders – constitutes a challenge in designing holistic policies. The EU-funded Firelogue project aims to support and coordinate the consolidation of knowledge from the wildfire risk related Green Deal Innovation Actions and the wider community. It integrates the findings across stakeholder groups and fire management, and promotes discussion via forums and workshops, leading to exchange among a large range of stakeholders.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are increasingly leveraged for crisis management and decision support; however, their operational maturity remains constrained by fragmented data, limited adaptability, and poor interpretability. Real-world emergencies demand robust, explainable, and interoperable AI systems capable of functioning under uncertainty and degraded conditions. Recent European disasters — including wildfires (2021–2023) and floods (2021) — exposed critical shortcomings in existing systems, such as missing real-time data, non-adaptive models, and incompatible communication infrastructures that hindered coordinated response. CROSSAI addresses these challenges by developing a next-generation, AI-enabled, and fully interoperable disaster management platform that unifies technological, operational, and institutional layers across Europe. The platform integrates neurosymbolic AI engines, federated digital twins, graph and physics-informed neural networks, and explainable AI (XAI) dashboards within a secure, federated, and ontology-driven architecture aligned with GAIA-X and EU Data Space standards. This “system-of-systems” acts as a Cognitive Decision Assistant, delivering adaptive, transparent, and trustworthy recommendations to responders in real time
